4W - Alan, VK1AO (VK2MET) will be active as 4W/VK1AO from Timor Leste
between 25 July and 4 August, and again "at least two more times
over the next three years". He plans to be QRV on 40, 30, 20, 17,
15 and 12 metres SSB, FT8, JS8 and maybe some CW, and to operate
from a couple of POTA parks. He will upload his log to Club Log and
LoTW. [TNX The Daily DX]
C6A - Joe, W8GEX and Janet, W8CAA will be active as C6ADX and C6AYL,
respectively, from Exuma Island (NA-001), Bahamas for ten days
starting on 16 July. They will operate mainly FT8 on 60-6 metres.
QSL via LoTW, or direct to home calls. [TNX The Daily DX]
CT8 - Jim, W6PQL will be active as CT8/W6PQL from Pico Island (EU-175),
Azores from 14 July to 6 September. He will operate SSB and FT8,
and will be QRV around 14240 kHz at nighttime, and around 7140-7180
kHz in the mornings. Between 18 July and 1 September he will oper-
ate 2m EME and tropo. QSL via LoTW, or direct to home call.
CY0 - Originally scheduled to take place sometime between October and
November 2022, the CY0S DXpedition to Sable Island has been post-
poned until 20-29 March 2023. "The reason for this significant
change is due to a large, six-week project Parks Canada has on the
island beginning on October 1 and going to at least mid-November
2022", the team says. "By moving the DXpedition to March 2023, the
team hopes to take advantage of the late winter, early spring band
conditions and improving solar numbers. On a less positive note,
Sable Aviation informed us of another increase in the fuel sur-
charge for our flights to the island. The fuel surcharge has now
doubled". If you are willing to contribute, please use the "Donate"
button on www.cy0s.com.
FO - Georg, DJ6GI is visiting French Polynesia, and was active as FO/
DJ6GI from Raiatea (OC-067) on 11-15 July. He will then move to
Moorea (OC-046) and be QRV, again as FO/DJ6GI, from Moorea (OC-046)
on 24-29 July. He operates mainly digital modes. QSL via LoTW and
eQSL only.
I - Francesco, IZ7KHR will be active holiday style as ID9/IZ7KHR from
the islands of Lipari on 23-26 July and Salina on 27-29 July. Both
count for IOTA group EU-017 (Eolie Islands). He will operate SSB
and digital modes on the HF and VHF bands. QSL via home call.
I - The IP1X team (Claudio I1NVU, Joe I1WXY, Mauro IK1CJO, Gabriele
IK1NEG, Tony IK1QBT and Mauri IU1JCZ) will be active again from
Gallinara Island (EU-083) for 20 hours on 10-11 September, with 17-
18 September as backup dates in case of bad weather. They will run
two stations on CW, SSB and digital modes. QSL via IU1JCZ, direct
or bureau.
J2 - James, KI7MGY will be stationed in Djibouti until June 2023 and
plans to be QRV as J28HJ on 80, 40, 20, 17, 15 and 10 metres SSB
and FT8. QSL via LoTW.
LA - Mek, SP7VC will be touring Norway between 15 July and 15 August,
and will be QRV as LA/SP7VC from at least 15 different grid squares
on 4 and 6 metres SSB and digital modes (MSK144, JT6M, FT8). He
also plans to be active on the HF bands from Andoya (EU-033) and
Vagsoy (EU-055). QSL via home call.
LA - Stian, LB5SH will be active again from Oksningan (EU-062, WWL
JP66ca) between 16 July and 1 August. He will operate SSB and
digital modes as LB5SH/p, and will participate in the IOTA Contest
as LC1R. See https://lb5sh.no/home/ for updates.
OJ0 - DG5CST, DL3DXX, DL6FBL and SM0W will be active as OJ0DX from Market
Reef (EU-053) from 25 July to 1 August. Main activity will be dur-
ing the IOTA Contest. Outside the contest they will be QRV on 80-6
metres with a focus on 6m; DG5CST will be on VHF and UHF, also via
EME. QSL via Club Log's OQRS, or via DL3DXX.
TA - Depending on transportation, Berkin, TA3J plans to be active as
TA3J/0 from Yassica Island (AS-099) every Saturday and Sunday until
31 October. He will operate SSB, CW, RTTY and FT8 on 80-10 metres.
He will upload his log to Club Log and LoTW. [TNX The Daily DX]
UA0 - Eugene, RX3AMI will be active as RX3AMI/0 from several lighthouses
on Sakhalin Island (AS-018) (https://www.slashlh.com/2022-sakhalin)
from 23 July to 4 August. QSL via home call.
ZF - Frank, K3TRM will be active as ZF2RM from Cayman Brac (grid square
FK09), Cayman Islands (NA-016) on 17-30 July. Activity will focus
on 6 metres and satellite, "plus some HF". QSL via LoTW, Club Log's

Access to the main functions of www.425dxn.org is provided by the 425DXN App
for Android. It is available on Google Play - free of charge, no ads. Enjoy!
425 DX NEWS MAGAZINE ---> The June 2022 issue is available for download at
https://www.425dxn.org/. [TNX IZ3EBA]
INDEXA NEWSLETTER ---> The Summer 2022 issue (#136) of the International DX
Association's Newsletter is now available for download on the INDEXA website
(https://indexa.org/newsletters.html). Highlights include "A Tribute to
Franz Langner, DJ9ZB (SK)", "Tips and Techniques to Enhance Your Operating
and DX Skills", and news of the 3Y0J Bouvet and CY0S Sable DXpeditions.
SAC 2022: CANCELLED ---> The SAC Contest Committee (Morten Kvernmoen LB8DC,
Martti Laine OH2BH, Ingemar Fogelberg SM5AJV and Henning Andresen OZ2I) has
unanimously decided to cancel this year's two sections of the Contest, which
were due to be held on 17-18 September (CW) and 8-9 October (SSB). "Our
decision has been made due to the ongoing war in the region and in consider-
ation of the IARU declaration about friendship between people. We hope that
the situation will change for the better, so that we can once again compete
against each other as the SAC rules dictate".
On 28 February, "in response to recent world events", the International Ama-
teur Radio Union stated that "IARU is an apolitical organization focused on
promoting and defending amateur radio and the amateur radio services. The
amateur radio service is about self-instruction in communications and
friendship between people".
YASME EXCELLENCE AWARD ---> Established in 2008 by the Yasme Foundation
(https://www.yasme.org/), the Excellence Award is presented to individuals
and groups who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedication
have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contribution may
be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational achievement, as
all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper. The latest
recipients, announced on 10 July, are:
* Parks On The Air (POTA) Team - Since the program's inception, it has grown
enormously and now has more than 6500 "activators" who operate from the
parks and more than 20,000 "hunters" who work them. The core team consists
of Jason Johnston W3AAX, Rick Parent W0ZAP, Colby Dillion WR5B, Thom Mar-
tin W8TAM, Julie Martin WT8J, Vance Martin N3VEM, Mike Case W8MSC, Jeremy
Turner N0AW, Martin Moerman PA0KGB, John Ford AB0O, Steve Czaikowski
W3SPC. Next to DXCC and IOTA, POTA has become one of the most active
worldwide operating award programs. Even more important, though, is that
more hams are On The Air, especially hams with modest stations or who
cannot get OTA from home for whatever reason. POTA is making it possible
for them to have a great deal of fun, be active on HF/VHF/satellites, and
learn about radio.
* Jan Stadman, DJ5AN/PA1TT - In recognition of his efforts organizing ham
radio events. For many years, Jan organized the Dutch HF Convention and
the annual European DX Foundation meeting in Bad Bentheim, Germany. Jan
also runs the EUDXF booth at Ham Radio in Friedrichshafen. Together with
other DX associations he invented and shaped the "DX Plaza" that is now
the central meeting point for DXers present in Friedrichshafen. In 2017
Jan joined the organizing committee of the Dutch German Radio Amateur
Meeting DNAT and took over as committee chair in 2020, just before COVID.
The pandemic didn't stop him and even with the restriction that were in
place he was able to organize several events.
YASME FOUNDATION GRANT ---> The Board of Directors of the Yasme Foundation
has announced that it has made grants to Amateurs Radio Algeriens and the
Ethiopian Amateur Radio Society to attend YOTA Summer Camp Croatia 2022, the
Foundation for Amateur Radio (FAR) and the ARRL Foundation Scholarship
Program. [TNX K4ZW]
YOTA CONTEST 2022 ---> The second session of this year's YOTA Contest, orga-
nized by the IARU R1 Youth Working Group in cooperation with the Hungarian
Amateur Radio Society (MRASZ), will take place on 23 July (1000-2159 UTC) on
the five classic bands CW and SSB. Everyone can work everyone. The complete
rules can be found on https://ham-yota.com/contest.
